We’d booked a day off work after the gig in Bristol so we could recover from our hangovers, but as we didn’t drink and drove home we were right as rain for a stomp across the moors instead!
Here’s a YouTube video of Gaëlle in action…

We had to take a break from running yesterday… so we could shoot up to Bristol to see the Eagles of Death Metal rocking the Ansom Rooms. Hey… life can’t be all work and no play! Anyway, we must have sweated out a stone in weight through head-banging!

We had a weeks hiatus from decent training last week, due to the awful weather - we would normally go running most days after work. Although it has now turned colder, it is at least dry, so we’ve been able to get back on schedule for getting fit.
At the weekend, we even managed to slip the ropes back on and have a proper climb! It was only a short bit of top-roping in Caradon Mine quarry, but it was great fun. And Gaëlle finally had the chance to properly test out her new climbing shoes!

The weather was a mixed bag this weekend… mostly sunshine and showers on Saturday but an absolutely beautiful, crisp winter’s day on Sunday. We managed to make the most of it - spending time on Sharp Tor and Stowes Hill on Saturday and bouldering (low level climbing without ropes) on Downderry beach on Sunday.
Above are images of Gaëlle scrambling up the back of Sharp Tor (quite an exposed, bold scramble if you’re not used to that sort of thing!) and the view from Stowes Hill (back of Cheesewring) looking towards Gold Digging’s Quarry.

Hello and welcome to the montblancfordownderry.co.uk weblog. In the coming weeks and months you will be able to keep up-to-date with Gaëlle’s thoughts on her training and preparation for the Tour of Mont Blanc at the end of July; and with how the sponsorship campaign for Downderry school is coming along.
